Hello guys,

What a great topic! thanks...
Who's that stranger? who is he...is he is he?

I'm new on this forum and i think it's a great idea to finally have a forum for "real" collectors.
Thanks....

Here are some other items for the ELVIS IS BACK! with a BANG! topic.
Two old Billboard magazine ads for Elvis Is Back! dated May 23, 1960 and the other (yellow) is probably an extra edition for The Billboard (June 27, 1960)

The 3rd item is an announcement from REDBOOK magazine (probably sended to members) + magazine REDBOOK (february 1960) i would like to scan the story but the magazine isn't in a good shape inside, so it probably tear apart when i should scan it....sorry.

Hope you enjoy the items....

Regards,
Geert

Yes of course. I can show some of the super cool covers of that time.
Unfortunately for our English readers the text is Dutch.

I like this cover the best. Real art !!

I do have them also on DVD when they released those i didn't doubt any second to buy them.
I still watch them every now and then. Murder By The Book is a great episode! indeed on of the best in my opinion.

My favorites are at least...
Lovely But Lethal (with a young Martin Sheen)
Swan Song (with one of my favorites artists "Cash")

and one of the last episodes "Ashes To Ashes" (1998)
Even the last one from 2003 Columbo Likes the Nightlife was fun to watch...

In fact i like them all

Shame that this man isn't with us anymore....but we have his great performances captured forever.

pm is fine Ger....

Regards,
Geert

John & I are preparing part-3, the finale one, on Gary Pepper and his
'Tankcaster' fanclub magazines. It's been a while since I had a look at the
first 2 parts... The one dealing with 1961 is still very much alive with
over 1550 clicks/visits. While part-1 with 1300 visits hasn't done so badly
either! From our experience on this section,we know many guests peekin
in on the forum, and the many new members hardly ever make it to the
topics on page 2 and onwards...!
Therefore, to freshen up on the Garry Pepper's 'adventures', we bring back
part-1 for you to enjoy. Part-3 is targeted for January, next month.

From John, me, and all other contributers here, and on Spinnin' :
a Happy, Healthy and Rockin' 2012!
Thanks to you all for having made both sections a huge succes in 2011 !

Thanks for a most interesting thread Ger and contributors, great pics and stories, also the good wishes.

In 1960/61 I was eighteeen married and Elvis was dominating the music charts and all the pub singers around Salford city and Manchester UK were trying out It's Now or Never... me too.
Christmas 1960 I was working in Woolworths Piccadilly Manchester, after absconding from Yate's Wine Lodge after being employed there for just a couple of weeks! That's how it was in those days. I finished in Woolworths shortly after Christmas and was at Smithfield market when our second child was born in May 1961. Adaptability was the name of the game.

I saw all Elvis's early films as they were released in the UK and managed a few after the army years........ till I could manage no more!

Thanks, Ludwig!
While preparing part 3 on Gary Pepper and his Memphis based 'Tankcaster'
newsletter, I have started to re-read about Elvis' early 60s adventures in
'Day By Day' ,by Guralnick & Jorgensen ( Ballatine books, 1999). Even though
I was already a big fan, and had started collecting Elvis Monthlies and American
'gossip' magazines by that time, I was dumbfounded to learn Kissin' Cousins
was the first film after Viva Las Vegas, back in '63. Talking about disaster
planning by MGM and the Elvis management!!

Gary Pepper and his story's from usa was such a joy to read at that time, and it is fitting to see his work been put up on the forum and that"s a great tribute to the lad!.

Getting info from Gary and knowing the EP man himself was a right eye opener!.

As for kissin" cousins - weep!.

cristioto, it's nice of you to make the scans, but next time around,
keep the 50s stuff where it belongs, please. This topic is about 1960.
Plenty of other topics available to 'house' the 50s photographs.
But it's appreciated you're taking the time to put up material on
I Gotta Know !
