wishing you a great and fruitful day at the record fair, Alan.
Can we hopefully exspect a report on what it was like, next week?
I haven't been to a record fair for ages ( 10 years?) but do hear
there isn't much 50s available anymore...? True or false?

Hi Ger,Beeston and Luton are purely 50,s and early 60,s,at both of these fairs you will find all the top R n Roll dealers, most of them have been doing record fairs since the very begining,Beeston is run by Steve Dukes and Luton by Johnny (Chester) Dowling who had one of the very first London Record shops (The Bop Shop),also Paul Sanford stands at Luton he had the very first shop Moondogs, also Piers Chalmers who once owned the Brighton record shop,I,ve known all the dealers for at least 30 years,if you ever fancy going to one I,d reccomend Luton its held on a Sunday about every 2 months,so if you,re ever in the UK I,ll see you there,I,ll let you know how successful Beeston is later,Alan.

Alan, is it possible that you take some pics, from the whole place in one frame so to speak, and share it here? Just to get an impression of it all. That would be great!

Ger, in 2 weeks time the annual 'Rock Around The Jukebox' weekend takes place again in the Autotron. Besides the fact that it's one of the last surviving father-son traditions in my family, I also very much enjoy to hang out there for a full day amidst just about every 50's/60's item you can think of, ranging from railroad signs to Coke machines, and from wooden pinball machines to the latest Elvis boot.
Not as cool as, say, 10 years ago, but still a perfect day out for any 50's addict.

Do you ever do the Reading one at Rivermead? If so, were you there a couple of weeks ago?

The Vera Lynn fanclub meets the George Formby fanclub!

Just teasing, Alan. The vinyl collectors are not getting any younger,
that's for sure...

Thanks for posting the photos. They make me feel very young
today! thumbs.gif

Great pics! Many thanks for posting Alan! thumbs.gif

That tattooed guy in the Hawaii-shirt. Of all the collectors present, he is the one I would want to pay a visit. Judging by his style, he will most probably have some authentic and original stuff at home (not counting his wife).
Do you know him personally?

Have you ever been at his place, and does he have any interesting stuff (other than records) at home?
By the way he looks, one would assume his whole life is 'in style' with the 50's.

I'm always very interested in people who dare to be different. They manage to live their lives, just how they want to, even though the world around them always seem to tell them to walk the line (this is how it is in the world, sadly). And this guy appears to be doing whatever makes him happy. I respect that. Plus of course, I am also a 50's addict, which makes him double interesting.
So, no, nothing specific. Just curious if you were ever in his home and had interesting things/thoughts to share.
