The original version was recorded on 01-03-56 by Little Willie John (King 4935).

Other versions:
14-10-57 - Ray Peterson (RCA 20-7087);
19-05-58 - Peggy Lee (Capitol 3998).

The version by Peggy Lee comes more close to the version by Elvis.

Indeed, Elvis recorded the song with two bass players + 1 player on drums.
