Here the history of the name.
Ger wrote about this at the FECC forum.

Ger Rijff wrote:
The Label names... I can speak
freely on this subject. Its my boss, living the good life, in the Baxter
Penthouse, nearby, who came up with the names, for the labels...
One morning, doing my work, as a bus boy, in his penthouse [ known
at the time, as the Laurel Building] , he called me to his office, and
asked for any suggestions, for a Record Label name. I told him, back
in the 50s, there was a half hour comedy show, on both American
and English TV, called the Phil Silver Show.
It was about a Sergeant, in the American Army, by the name of
Ernie Bilko. A hustler supreme! My boss, always in for a quick buck
himself, right away, loved the Bilko character. "Lets name the label
Sergeant Bilko Records!" I agreed, it wasnt a bad choice...
After a while, with million topping sales, my boss, wanted to expand,
and start a sister label... "It has to be connected, to the old Sergeant",
he said. Thats when Fort Baxter was born. It was the name of the
Army camp, where Sergeant Bilko was stationed, back then...
There was even talks, to name yet another new label: Private
Doberman Records. After one of the soldiers, in Bilkos Platoon...
I told my boss, he was taking the joke, a little too far. So it was
decided, to launch: 2001.
When I sweap the floors, in his penthouse, every morning, and stare
at all them Gold records, on his office wall, I think, "I was there, when
Elvis History, was written..."

Here a few from my collection.
These were a sensation at the time.
See the pictures for the contents.
btw the sound is great on these cd's

If someone wants to command on these cd's please do.

not all copies though. But sadly enough the pressing plant
resposible has a long line of poorly pressed titles from around
that time...

Moody Blue and Other Great Performances...

Could they have been done for the trades description act, I wonder? neither moody Blue nor most of the other tracks were anything like great. But they were highly interesting at the time. There were songs on this disc we hadn't heard live before in this kind of quality, and yet more which were rarely performed live at this time. I was thrilled when it came out and played it alot. And then, a few months later I went back to it and the reality sank in: Presley was awful for most of the 60 minute running time. A number of the tracks (Where no-one stands alone, release me, reconsider baby etc) are still interesting because of their rarity, but it doesn;t make the performances any better, sadly.

Yes, a lot of great cd:s and great memories of hearing them for the first time.
Sadly, the cd Just Pretend got CD-rot but I have a copy of it.

As for the Moody Blue cd, well, the sound is great but Elvis is sadly not great.
So sad to hear it the first time, he really seemed to be stoned, the bonus songs he seemed better
so I mostly listened to those performances but it´s been a while since I played that cd.

Elvis at full blast was a favorite of mine and one I listened to A LOT.
I like those shows from 1972, still a lot of energy and very enjoyable shows.

Nice thread

aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh , memories , sweeten through the ages .... these great cd's bring it all back emotions and great memories , of being a 20 year old ELVIS PRESLEY fan and spending alot of coin on these and gettin every penny's worth. One always waited and longed for the next anouncement of what else would be put on shiny , and by GOD JEHOVAH , you were never disapointed . It was a damn great label and a great time in THE ELVIS WORLD - collecting cd's was at a premium , with these babies.

Looking back on those fun but nerv wreckin' days, with RCA and special police forces
on the look out for the bad boys... yes, they arrested most of them, I myself am more
attached to the vinyl releases. The Laurels, Pink and Blacks, etc.
The smell of freshly printed album sleeves in the morning... Them was mighty tasty!

i'm sure glad they dod not get you MR RIJFF , we would have lost some great releases along the way . As i said i loved the label from the start , to have a show in great qulaity from a great season [at leat to me] with great and most powerful version of howgreat... - this set blew me out of the water. I'm still a fan of the label and will produce my own tshirts with iron ons of the cd covers, to prove it.
