UPDATE: JANUARY 12, 2012
Since there are also a lot other gum cards from different countries i decided to change the subject title to "European Gum Cards" instead of only Dutch gum cards.
Here's our latest topic. DUTCH gum cards.
And there were MANY MANY different ones. A lot of them were also for other countries like Belgium, France and Germany.
Here's a short introduction about those cards.
KLENE's Suikerwerkfabrieken N.V. in Amsterdam (Candy factory) started with the cards in 1935 with 210 different ones all with Shirley Temple on front.
In 1954 they launched a second set with 292 cards! i don't know how long this serie exactly go.
But there are two different Elvis cards from that 2nd serie (Nr.224 which you can see in the image below) and Nr.233 which i don't have a scan from. You also can see the back of the card. With an ad from the factory.
In 1957 "Maple Leaf" came with a set called "Music Stars" with 223 different cards.
Only one from Elvis Nr.27 (see image)
In 1958 another factory (name unknown) came with a set of gum cards this was "Serie A" this was the beginning of an endless series of gum cards. This set can be found with or without a "PRINTED IN HOLLAND" line on front (see scan) There are 30 diferent ones from Elvis in this serie.
This set was the same as the Hellas Serie A set (from Finland also 1958), except this set is blank-backed and the Hellas set has Hellas ad text on the back, but the images on front are all the same and in the same order.
Last but not least is the Elvis gum card from MONTY which is from 1958 (please tell me if i'm wrong), which can't be really classified as a gumcard because the size is bigger then a postcard (see scan complete with wrapper and piece of gum unused

). But it's a really a cool thing to have (wondering if the chewing gum is still as tasty as it was
Hope you enjoyed this topic, we're trying to update this one. But these cards don't popup everyday.
Thanks!
