one can also pick up my book Studio B Blues ( sic) and get all the photos and many more in print.
Not an easy to find title, but you, of all people, should have it for your archives!

I've been looking for that book for a while...What do you think about the shots of Elvis with the guitar? Is he just doing the one number as the recording session files show?

That is a great book ... to see a 50"s recording session (Nashville) through these photo"s was just mind blowing!.

I can add the following, David: When Al Wertheimer was in the studio during
the Hound Dog recording Session, he mentioned no photos were aloud to be made
during the time Elvis and band tried to nail a master recording. It was okay for
him to shoot during preparations/ rehearsals though.
It could be the same story for the photographer from Life magazine ( one
photo appeared in an april 56 Life issue) .

Maybe during try outs for IWINILY Elvis used his guitar? Or... tried one or
two other songs?

Interesting Ger. So all the photos from the Hound Dog session are from the rehearsals/tryouts before they even started to record the song?

The same thing seems to have been instructed to the photographers whilst shooting some of the 50's TV Shows, the images look to be from the dress rehearsals,as the movements don't match the live broadcasts.

I have just got hold of a A1 condition of Ger's book "Long Lonely Highway: 1950's Elvis Scrapbook",for £5 - what a superb read.

Thanks Davide

Ben, yes, the Hound Dog session photos are all from rehearsals and inbetween breaks.
Wertheimer explained the reason why he wasn't aloud to shoot continuesly was because
the "clicks"from his camera might be picked up on tape during recording and also Elvis
could be distracted while concentrating by Wertheimer sneaking around him all the time.

Is it the original or the later pressing?

I understand that, and thought the 'clicking' could be the reason for no photos being shot during recording, but I've always assumed they were actual session-in-progress photos, while he was recording the song.

Thanks for the info Ger.
