Elvis is everywhere, even in Eastern Europe. We all know the history of the Iron Curtain and also we know that Eastern European countries were not very tolerant towards Western popular music. But Elvis was there and the aim of this topic is to collect a little discography of releases that were issued in counties like the DDR, CCCP, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria and Yugoslavia. Especially from Yugoslavia quite some pressings are known. Which collector is going to help me out?Elvis' Christmas Album

This LP is unknown to most collectors - even in Germany. It's a German made LP for use in the German Democratic Republic. There were only a few DDR produced records and this LP is the rarest made for the DDR because collectors even didn't know anything about it. The album shows large similarities to the 1971 German (West) version but there are differences in the cover title and the contents are completely different. There is no mention of the DDR on this album - label says it is produced in Hamburg with the regular producers of West German Elvis albums.
In the late 80s the Western European market was floated with low budget picture discs from Denmark and also Eastern European imports were regularly seen. So it is not that the records underneath are very rare (they are NOT very hard to find) but they are nice to have.
