I was disappointed to not hear the vocal overdub version of Promised Land on the new FTD. The version released on the This Is Elvis soundtrack is cool, but too short.
I'd imagine most would agree Promised Land is the standout track from the album, which makes me wonder why this innovative take was left off the FTD.
The organ overdub I could happily live without.

I believe Elvis is doing the harmony, a technique also put to great use on Suspicious Minds.

If its Elvis, it should be released. Its unique and could have a second life as a new single!

The process was called "double tracking." Elvis sang the lead vocal, then they recorded a harmony track and added it on.

I guess they might put out an FTD of This is Elvis and include the complete overdubbed version. That would be the only logical reasonh for leaving it off this release.

IF there will be an "This Is Elvis"-FTD, they'll without a doubt include the 1:57 edit of the overdubbed version. But I wouldn't be to sure about having the complete overdubbed version included on that (possible) release...

Not sure what's happening on Keith Flynn's site then, he has this as the undubbed master.

Take 6 (M) 3:40 "Columbus Stockade Blues"
(Undubbed Master) Promised Land (FTD)°°~Our Memories Of Elvis (FTD - 3)°° (See Note)

Overdub (M) 2:51 Organ overdub on January 2 1974
(Not Used) Bilko's Gold Cuts°~More Pure Elvis°

So is this the original organ by David Briggs and not the Randy Cullers overdub?
