The original version was recorded on 12-11-53 by Clyde McPatter & The Drifters (Atlantic 1019).

Other versions:

04-03-54 - Jane Turzy (Decca 29087);
15-03-54 - Dinah Washington (Mercury 70336);
00-03-54 - Bunny Paul (Essex 352);
00-03-54 - Perez Prado & his Orchestra with vocal Ray Baxter (RCA 20-5738);
00-07-59 - Bunny Paul (re-recording on Roulette 4186).

I remember the Johnnie Ray hit version being 'banned' back then.

It was the talk of the playground !

Of course, we thought it was banned altogether, but actually it was simply a BBC airplay no no !
