you could start by removing the stupendous 50s dvd topic by a guy
who only posts on that particular thread and adds nothing elsewhere
on this forum.

2ndly: give Colgan his own section titled: Colgan Talks About Colgan.

But not quite as much as Rijff talks about Rijff......................... Without actually realising it! That's what amuses many of us. :-)

As a very wise man once pointed out, "The more we talk of things in general the more we portray ourselves".

Think about it.

Now that's bad but just as bad, no probably much worse are the fake Elvis letters sold by Maurice Colgan in 2008. THOSE would qualify for this category no doubt about it. Are members here familiar with that sad story??

Thanks guys for chasing Ger away....
He ofcourse is not that easy to handle,
but I always love to read his remarks and often have to laugh about them.
And his know-how of the 50's is remarkable.

Spill the beans, uncle, and let me leave this place for good with a smile
up on my face. This is goodbye to the cage. My final hours here.
Enjoy the sad and twisted stories of the Irishman. He's the death of this
forum. I don't want anymore part of it. I'll be gone here tomorrow.
I'll be peeking in, at times, but no more posting. A relief to some, I know.
Tally-ho and cheerio! Let the backstabbing begin. Rock Legend, you first?

Ger....what's this??? You're heading out of town??? Can I make a suggestion? I will ask that you stay on for at least a few days and join in on the lively and heated debate (although it will be totally one-sided) concerning the counterfeit Elvis letters being talked aobut by a dubious member here. I, for one, would like to see your face in the audience. Please stick around and toss in the odd comment if you so desire...deal???

My face is in the audience, uncle. But I leave it to you to clean this cage.
Francesc and I have done our bit.

I started this topic trying to get some conversation going about crap Elvis memorabilia, not to attack another forum member.

There are plenty of topics where that is happening already.
I came to Monkey for a friendly alternative, without the snide remarks of a few that pollute the atmosphere. It's nice that people can speak their minds here but sadly bickering and nasty comments are starting to win the day.

Hi Rick. We're just trying to right a wrong that has been ongoing for too long a time, decades in fact. The author of this nonsense purports to be intelligent and well read but when it comes to the simplest of facts regarding two counterfeit Elvis letters (memorabilia) his ability to reason and process logic vanishes. An odd quality wouldn't you agree?

Sorry to see your thread spoilt Rickeap.

Logic is my speciality.

I have no idea what or who is right or wrong and don't know the history of it, I'm just trying to keep my nose out of it. I'm not precious about any threads I open either, just sending a general message that comnstant squabbling and nasty remarks do not make for a pleasant forum. A lot of us came here to avoid that sort of crap.

Well Rick my friend stick around and you will soon come to realise who is right and who is wrong. Sorry to say the "history of it" goes back so many years it may prove fruitless to try to correct the situation. But that doesn't mean it's not a noble cause and that we can't educate many Elvis fans along the way young and old alike (with the exception of one) to the pitfalls of continually perpetuating a falsehood. Your thread isn't spolied Rick. In fact, just the opposite. It's taken on a subject that has plagued the Elvis collecting world for far too long. Well done Rick!!

Just ask yourself Rick, why all this fear of little ol' me? The Elvis forum bullies need to recruit when I just act alone. A match for any of them, anytime.

I don't think so.

Ger throws tantrums all the time. I wouldn't like to see him depart. I like his no prisoners attitude ...sometimes.

Yes he has a lot of good stuff to share.

As I said, I'm happy to stay out of the squabbles. Can't we all agree on how stupid little Elvis ducks are?
