I find this very interesting - I've never even seen a re-work of this or any other King Creole poster for gereral sale in the UK. I am meeting up with some big Elvis' movie memorabilia collectors on Friday and I'll ask if they have seen anything like it.
Love that Australian King Creole poster - never seen this before. Is it a full poster or daybill poster? It's real interesting that this film was certified 'A' in the UK - suitable for anyone. In Australia 'Not Suitable for Children'. In Ireland it was banned.
I agree that the UK poster was better than the American ones, I would say all the UK were better with the exception of Loving You and Clambake. The big problem with the posters is that the art work sometimes had poor representations/drawings of Elvis. I have a 1961 Italian poster and it has used a photograph of Elvis and Vic Morrow during the fight scene in the alley, the best I've seen, I haven't posted it as it's not UK.
All the best

Did you happen to buy the Italian 'fight scene' KC poster from Mr Giles?!
I ask because I sold him my copy about half a year ago...?
If possible have it up here, I love the graphic design of this particular poster.
Is it the vertical half sheet you have?
While working on 'Inside King Creole' Ian Bailye mailed me a photo that came
from a 16 or 35 mm frame from the original old copy he has/had in his film
library. It clearly was 'X' rated for release in the uk, back in 59!
Somehow the photo didn't make the book... and I have no idea if it's still
somewhere floating around in one of my archive boxes?!
I never really took good care of the Elvis material I had over the years...
I remember Chris' facial expression in shock eyeing my archive room, years
ago!!
